It always leaves a vacant place inv the heart of a passing parent upon the children. Live each day in light of the life they have shared as a testament of their footprint. Remember the love and laughter, and move forward in hope and peace, it is a process, at time painful, but a process that helps you to continue the journey looking forward in hope, walking in grace and praying in faith. Much love

Denise and family--I"m so sorry for the loss of your dad--what a good man he was! I can still see him when you and Michael were young--he had such a patient, relaxed way with us all, and always had an easy laugh at our antics. Even then he was dedicated to our community, and over the years I would see his name in the paper, and smile. It was my honor to know your father, and the world is a better place because of him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Denise and Family, please know that I am keeping you and your family in my prayers. Your Dad was a great friend to me. I will forever remember our lunches, arranged only when he finally answered his cell phone. He is at peace and we have experienced a great loss.

Prayerfully submitted, Deidre Monroe

My sincere condolences to the Comer family. Mr. Comer was a dear friend to my parents, the late John and late State Senator Carolyn Mosby. As a matter of fact, he introduced them to each other and that meeting resulted in their marriage. Mr. Comer and my dad often golfed together and told each other jokes. He was also a great leader in the Gary community.

In Loving Memory of Richard James Comer. It is with gratitude and respect that we acknowledge the outstanding impact that Richard James Comer has had on the staff of Ball State University, Office of Charter Schools. Always supportive and extremely dedicated to providing educational options for all students, Mr. Comer provided us his leadership and focus as he dedicated his energy to founding Aspire Charter School in Gary, Indiana, working to provide quality education to all of its students. Mr. Comer was present and willing to commit. Whether in Nashville, Tennessee, at the national charter school conference, Indianapolis for the Summit or a local public hearing, we could count on Mr. Comer to attend and provide insight. This charming gentleman has made an impact on all of us and will be missed.
In honor of Richard James Comer, the staff of Ball State University, Office of Charter Schools will present a monetary contribution to Aspire Charter School for the Richard James Comer Memorial Library.
Sincerely and with Condolences to His Family,
