I treasure all that Sister Rita shared and taught me.
She shared my burdens through some hard times.
She shared her love and prayers and her laughter and lifted my heart.
I hope she has a pair of red silk pajamas.
I love you Sister Rita.

Rita Raspberry "Ree-Rah" age 66, was born in Gary, Indiana on August 11, 1950 transitioned this life on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital after battling multiple health issues over the past few years. She attended Roosevelt High School but completed her education in 1968 at Froebel High School. She was formerly employed at US Steel Mill as a Crane Operator. She later relocated to Indianapolis, In with her children. Preceded in her death loving parents Norman Sr. and Mattie Raspberry; 7 siblings Norman Jr., Vera Morris, Dorothy Jean Beard, William "Lovie" Raspberry; Lawrence Raspberry, Gail Raspberry-Bertha, Debbie Raspberry-Lewis, special niece JoAnn Ledbetter. Rita is survived by Loving children Patrick B. Hollins, Dominque (Michael) Battles, 4 grandchildren, Demetruis B. Hollins, Royce B. Hollins, Diamond C. Battles, and Marquise Battles, sister Carolyn Ledbetter-Pittman, brother Donnell (Louise) Raspberry, Spiritual Mother and Best friend Alfreda (David) Allen, Goddaughter LaToya McLemore, Angel, God sister Anita Steel, special niece JCarole Ledbetter, best friend Geraldine Carter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rita desired a private departure at Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, Inc. Rita's family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
