Samuel Cornelius Rucker, age 74, a Gary resident from his youth, departed this life on Tuesday April 17, 2018. He was a retired employee of Inland Steel and a member of Mizpah Seventh Day Adventist Church. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Nellie Marie, father Emmanuel Frank Rucker, and sister Sheila Ann Reddick. Samuel leaves to cherish his memories mother Mary Riley Rucker; Children Samuel Emanuel (Vernita), and Anthony Sherwood (Cynthia) Rucker, Ada Ruth (Charles) Pridgen, Latanza Denise (Steve) Colon, Anthony Geroyd (Talanda) Rucker and Heather Smith; Siblings Nicholas Maurice (Juanita) Rucker, Rebekah Elaine (Edgar) Stevenson; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation Sunday April 22, 2018 from 12:00-8:00p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 West 11th Avenue. Homegoing Celebration Monday, April 23, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Mizpah Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2350 Jefferson St. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
