Varah Richmond Caldwell transitioned peacefully September 18, 2017. She was a member of Christ Baptist. Varah was a retired cook with the Gary Community School Corporation. Preceded in death by her husband Joel Caldwell and grandson Martin Curtis and 12 sisters and brothers. She is survived by her children Dorothy (John) Curtis, Daisy (Jimmie) Curtis, John Caldwell Jr. and Dorothy Caldwell; grandchildren John Curtis, Michele Curtis, John and Joe Caldwell Jr.; great-grandchildren Maiya Thomas, Camille Martina Curtis, and John Caldwell III; sister Mattie Fears, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation Friday September 22, 2017 from 9-11:00 a.m. Family hour 10-11:00 a.m. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. all services at Christ Baptist Church 4700 E. 7th Ave. Pastor/Teacher Lawrence R. Robertson officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
