Victor Lamont Carraway, born September 23, 1950 in Gary, Indiana to the late Willa B. and William B. Carraway Sr. He was a member of First A.M.E. Church, graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1968, and received his Bachelors Degree from Kendall College (Evanston, IL) in 1980. Former employee of Illinois Bell Telephone Co., substitute teacher with the Gary Community School Corp., driver for Federal Express, Triple "A", and the Gary Minority Business Development Co. Victor exchanged time for eternity May 14, 2018. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife Joanne. 2 devoted sisters Roberta Carraway Washington and Delores Carraway Gibson; 2 sons Rovell A. Carraway of Gary, IN and Cameron L. Leverett of Atlanta, GA; Niece Kimberly Y. Chatman; great Nephew Joshua D. Palmer both of Atlanta, GA. Dear friend Cornell McIntosh of Crete, IL and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation Monday, May 21, 2018 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at First A.M.E. Church, 2045 Massachusetts St. Rev. Dr. Virgil M. Woods, Pastor; Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.

My condolences to the Carraway family. I taught Victor at Roosevelt High School. I don't remember all of my former students, but I remember Victor. He was always smiling, very mannerable and he was a good student. May GOD bless and comfort your family until you meet him again.

I went to college with Victor at Lincoln University . We were freshmen together . I had some very good times with him and he was just good people . My deepest condolences to his family . Rest in peace my brother .

Our condolences go out to Roberta and Delores and the entire Carraway family on the recent passing of Victor. I will always remember the days at First A.M.E. Church when Victor and I were in Sunday School in Mr. Worthington's class where we became good friends. He will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him well.
