DAN MANDICH
1930 - 2010
Northwest Indiana
A lifelong area resident, he lost a hard-fought battle with cancer on February 20, 2010. Born in Gary, IN to the late Rade and Julia Mandich. Dan retired after 51 years of dedicated service from Gary/Hobart Water Co., and Local Union #13584--an occupation he began in 1948 as NIPSCO originally held the company. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed many sports--especially Chicago Cubs baseball and horse racing. Along with his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Mandula, Violet Mandich and Peter Mandich. Surviving is one sister, Helen Mandich; also, numerous nieces, nephews, co-workers and lifelong friends. According to Dan's absolute wishes, all services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Humane Society of NWI, 6100 Melton Rd., Gary, IN 46403. For further info, please phone Savich & Semplinski Directors of Burns Funeral Home at (219) 769-0044. Dan will now be a true Cubs fan-- for all eternity!
