Diane Gravenish Obituary
She was born Aug. 31, 1940, to Hilda (Koenig) and Armond Gravenish, and grew up in the Pine Island area. She was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island. Diane graduated from Pine Island High School in 1958 and from Winona State College in 1962 with a bachelor's degree in English and library. She taught English in Jackson, Minn., for two years, received her media specialist degree, and was an elementary school librarian first in the Rosemount School District and then in the Robbinsdale School District, retiring in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by five sisters, Marlys (Ray) McNamara of Goodhue, Jeanette (Gary) Stephens of Mokena, Ill., Nadine (Richard) Thurow of Oakdale, Minn., Mary Alice Krause (Gene Erdmann) of Lonsdale, Minn., Sandy Gravenish (Doug Majerus) of Red Wing; two bothers, Jon (Mary) Gravenish of Lake City, Tom (Maureen) Gravenish of Burlington, Ontario; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and two aunts.
Diane enjoyed reading, traveling, movies, live theater, going out to eat with family and friends, the Twins, Vikings and Gophers.
A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 6180 Highway 65 NE, Fridley. Interment will be private.
Memorials are preferred to St. Philip's Lutheran Church in Fridley or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island.
