Laddie Wayne Mickelberg

Laddie Wayne Mickelberg, 88, of Bemidji, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji, with the Rev. Andrew Ronnevik officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the spring at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Laddie was born Nov. 19, 1926, in La Crosse, Wis., the son of Lester and Nina (Salchenberger) Mickelberg. He was raised and educated there and in Holmen, Wis. He served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps with one year spent on Okinawa. Lad married Dorothy Bratberg on Aug. 8, 1947, in Holmen. He worked at IBM for 28 years, holding several management positions and retiring in 1985. Lad loved genealogy and published a book with his family history and did research while on several trips to Norway.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Bemidji; four children, Nancy (Eugene) Mickelberg-Marty, of Bemidji, Mark (Elsa) Mickelberg, of Red Wing, Sandra (Jim) Scheid, of Coon Rapids, and Eric (Kris) Mickelberg, of Rochester; six grandchildren, Tisha, Jennifer, Tony, Eric, Ian and Rosalee; a brother, Gordon (Darlene) Mickelberg, of Maple Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jean Gullickson; and a brother, Richard Mickelberg.

Memorials are preferred to Sanford Hospice of Bemidji or Calvary Lutheran Church.
