A memorial service for Sherry L. Heintz, 61, of Stewartville, will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville, with the Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating.

Sherry died on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at her home, from complications of diabetes.

Sherry Lee Barber was born on Aug. 24, 1956, in Winona, to Dennis and Betty (Schultz) Barber. She grew up in the Lewiston and Rochester areas and attended Mayo High School. She attended Rochester Community College, receiving an associate's degree in nursing. Sherry was married in 1974 in California to Randy Moe. Following their marriage, the couple lived in California, before returning to Rochester and had three boys together - Shane, Travis and Dustin. They were later divorced.

Sherry was married in 1994 in Rochester to Anthony "Tony" Heintz. They lived in Rochester before building a house in Stewartville in 1996, where they raised their sons, Dalton and Logan, and have continued to make their home.

Sherry was employed as an LPN at the Rochester State Hospital until its closing. She then provided in home daycare for 20 years. She was also employed at Mayo Clinic and at the Veterans Clinic in Rochester when she retired in 2016. Tony is a longtime employee of Pinske - Edge Co. in Rochester, currently as the general manager.

Sherry was a member of the Stewartville United Methodist Church.

Sherry was a loving mother who dedicated all of her time to her five children and their passions, specifically sports. Sherry was known as the queen of the deal and always came out ahead. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met and taught all of us how to care about those closest to you. Her commitment to family was everlasting.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Tony; and her sons, Shane Moe (Marjorie Popowitz) of St. Mary's Point, Minn., Travis (Colleen) Moe of St. Louis Park, Minn., Dustin Moe of Rochester, and Dalton and Logan Heintz, both of Stewartville; three grandchildren, Macklin and William Moe and Sam Popowitz; her mother, Betty Barber of Stewartville; three sisters and one brother, Connie (Bruce) Thompson of rural Stewartville, Vicky (Bob) Robertson and Steve (Wanda) Barber, both of Stewartville, and Lori (Chad) Quandt of rural Racine; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; and her grandparents.

A time of visitation for friends and family will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
