Van Den Eng, Eugene
Eugene (Gene) V. Van Den Eng, 80, of Punta Gorda, FL and Kimberly, WI. He was born February, 11, 1933 in Freedom, WI, son of the late Peter J. and Elizabeth H. (nee Brooks) Van Den Eng. He married Kenice A. Munn on May 24, 1968 in Clovis, New Mexico. Gene served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, he went in April 13 1951 at the age of 18, was a Korean War Vet May 53-May 54 and a Vietnam War Vet Dec 69-Dec 1970. He had two tours in Europe, France and England. Gene was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California for seven years where he was in Missiles. He played golf for the USAF and won several trophies. Gene retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force in February 1972, and with his wife Kenice and three year old son, Peter, he moved to Port Charlotte, Fl. There he embarked on a new career in real estate and in 1980 opened Van Den Eng Realty, Inc., which is still in existence. Gene's love was construction and building spec houses and real estate investing
He was a 3rd. degree Knights of Columbus council # 8074 PG. FL, U.S. Air Force Sergeants Ass. Life Member # 773510, Vietnam Veteran of America chapter # 0351, Life Member Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Life Member Post # 7692 Freedom, WI, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Life Member #44695 09082L28989 Chapter FL.82, The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA), Life Member #11712, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda, FL.
Gene is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kenice; Sons: Peter, Atlanta, GA. and Bruce, Sterling, VA; three grandchildren: Lauren, Brandon and Caroline; Sisters: Eunice Van Daalwyk, Kimberly, WI, Joyce (Roy) Van Dyke, Seymour, WI; Brothers: Marvin, Freedom, WI, Floyd (Joan ), Keshena, WI, Clarence (Millie ), Sulphur, LA, Ronald, Freedom, WI, and a Brother-in-law, Clarence ( Whitey ) Gerrits, Kaukauna, WI; Lots of wonderful nieces and nephews; He was preceded by his parents Peter and Elizabeth Van Den Eng, a daughter Sarah Jane Van Den Eng, and two sisters: Evelyn A. Gerrits and Gladys M. Fravel.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Gene will be held at 12:00 NOON on Monday, April 29, 2013 at St. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, W2037 County Road S, Freedom with Fr. Dan Felton celebrating. Burial with full military rites will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Gene's name
