He volunteered numerous hours of labor for this project during his term and afterward. Jim was a member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, and the American Legion. He was an avid hunter, fisher, snowmobiler, and outdoorsman. James enjoyed working with wood. His projects ranged from home remodeling, garage building, shadow boxes, butcher blocks, sheds, and his elaborate hunting blind known as "The Condo".
