Eleanor Hastings Obituary
Appleton - Eleanor Hastings, 88, peacefully went to be with her Savior on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 16. John Seals Hastings, her husband of 63 years, and one of her grand-daughters, Brooklyn Hastings, a nursing student, were at her side. She was born on February 7, 1930 in Berwyn, IL, the daughter of John and Christine (Chlapecka) Marecek. She married on November 27, 1954 in Berwyn, IL and in 1958 she and John moved near Weyauwega, Wisconsin and became very involved at First Baptist Church of Waupaca. When they moved to Appleton in 1972 they became charter members of Emmanuel Baptist Church, now known as Cross Walk Church. She will be fondly remembered as "Mrs. Eleanor" for her many years of Awana and children's ministry.

Eleanor loved life; especially traveling, hiking and walking fast! Best of all were family gatherings, laughing (or crying) children, bargains, recipes, silly songs, art and meeting new people.

She is survived by her husband John and their four children: Ferree (Tom) Hardy, Steven (Tammy) Hastings, Joel (Lisa) Hastings and Anjee (Jim) Kimber; 15 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; two sisters: Violet (Ed) Broschka and Joanne (Doug) Thoma; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Eleanor will be held at 11 AM, Monday, May 21, 2018 at Cross Walk Church (2020 E. John St.) Appleton. Friends may visit the family at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 3 - 6 PM. There will also be visitation on Monday directly at church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 2:15 at Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cross Walk Church Mission Fund will be appreciated.

Her family will miss her dearly but are certain she'll find plenty to do in Heaven until they meet again.
