James R. Murphy

Oshkosh - My soul mate, James "Murph" Murphy has moved on to another bar in heaven. James Richard Murphy was born to Charlotte and John "Jug" Murphy on July 16, 1955. He attended Lourdes in Oshkosh. Many of his classmates are still friends to this day. Murph is survived by his mother, Charlotte J. Murphy; brother, Robert Murphy; sister, Joanne (Bill) Fenrich; youngest brother, Patrick (Anne) Murphy; nieces: Keeana Murphy, Brittney (Jimmie) Fowler, Lacey (Nick) Beaman; nephew, Alec (Katelyn) Fenrich; great nephews: Jimmie and Reggie Fowler; great niece, Murphie Beaman; along with his furry friends, Bretta Favre and Vanny boy.

Murph is not survived by just his family; he is survived by every single person who worked for him, played fast pitch, dartball, darts, golfed, bowled, and participated in sports with and by every single person who stepped into the other love of his life, Slades. If he called you bonehead or divot man, he loved you. Slades was his dream come true because of his sister Joanne. Slades was his lifeline to the hundreds of people whom he held close to his heart, and every single one reading this knows who you are. He loved celebrating birthdays, New Year's, anything that could bring all his friends and family together.

Besides Slades, Murph loved boating. Nothing gave him more joy. We should have purchased a bigger boat for all the friends he would invite. The joy and look in his eyes when we were on the water was priceless.

Murph and I were soulmates and loved and played like we were still in our 20's. We loved traveling to Vegas to try to win that "big one" but, our favorite place in the world was Key West. The friends we have on the island are like family and loved dearly.

And lastly, I am going to miss the most incredible man I have ever met. Our souls are entwined. We finished each other's sentences and would always know what each other was going to say. I love you "Muffy" and can't wait to meet you again in heaven. Keep chewing those straws and save me a seat at your new bar in heaven.

Your loving wife, Diane xoxoxo

Diane & the Murphy Family,

I have known Murph since we were little kids because our parents were best friends. Then as an adult, got to know him a lot better since I practically lived at Slades. So many of my happy memories involved Slades and everyone that went there.

Thanks for the memories Murph-I hope you realize how many lives you touched.

Murph had a big heart and was a kind soul and his character was immeasurable. I was honored to call him and Diane as my friends.
Next to my Dad and my brother-in-law Doug there are few people
who I respect more or whose respect meant more to me. God bless
you Jim for your friendship over the years!

Diane, remember the old saying it takes a village to raise a kid, well we know that your precious Murph did that with our two son's, Todd and Craig Geerts. They loved Murph and had a great friendship with him. Tom and I only met Murph a few times but he was a amazing man, very kind and generous. May God bless you and help you through this very difficult time Diane. Tom and I have you in our prayers and thoughts and our very deepest sympathy.

Sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. Fellow Oshkosh southsider as youth we’d roam the city streets on hot muggy summer nights into the wee hours while our parents slept blissfully unaware. Played lots of dartball in the Murphy rec room. I remember dipping into “Jugs” pipe tobacco humidor and taking a chaw. That cured me of a bad habit then and there. Brother Bob Murphy was an apartment roommate for awhile in college days. Sorry we hadn’t connected in so many years. Rest In Peace ✝ Murph

Deepest condolences to Diane, Terry, family and the entire Slades family. Murph made Slades a place of friendship and camaraderie through laughs, story telling and smiles. I have many memories of great times with Murph, Diane and Terry. Though times move forward and time spent at Slades became less and less, the memories of sitting for a drink and laughs is still one I cherish. Thanks Murph for being.

Diane, I am so terribly sorry to hear of Murph's passing!! In all of the years of knowing you and Murph, I cannot recall him without a smile on his face. Country USA, T&O, Slades or any other location that we crossed paths, always greeted with an outstretched arm and firm handshake. While Murph will be missed, we are all better people for having known Jim Murphy. Our world is also a better place for Murph having been in it. My deepest sympathies and prayers to you and your family. Murph, until we meet again. It was a privilege.

Murph was our sponsor for our dartball league and he sponsored dartboard tournaments. Murph was a kind, generous, caring person who will be missed by many. So many good memories at Evil Roy's. I know the sadness you and his family are feeling. The memories will help you get through this. My deepest sympathy.

Always made me laugh since I arrived in Oshkosh in 1993 and gravitated to his bar. Will always love Murph and Diane for welcoming my wife and I into the business “home”. He absolutely swore more humorously than anyone ever. Nobody has ever strung together more nouns, adverbs, and verbs in one sentence that all began with an F.

There's no quick way through tough times like this. It takes hawever long it takes to find your eay. Just know that there are friends out there to lean on, laugh with when you remember something or see something that you n Murph would enjoy, when you least expect. You are not alone.

Di
From the first time our basketball team showed up at Slades you made a new guy in Oshkosh feel like family and it never changed from that nite forward.

We could show up anytime and you guys made us feel like we were home.

Thank you and Murph for everything forever and always.

Love you and so sorry.
