KELLEY, Megan Rose

Megan Rose Kelley, 22, of Appleton passed away unexpectedly after struggling with addiction. She lost her battle on April 14, 2015. We believed she would be successful this time, but opiates are a powerful drug taking many lives including her boyfriend, who lost his own battle with addiction. Megan was born on January 9, 1993 in Neenah.

Megan was greatly loved by all of her family and friends. She was a free-spirit, fiercely independent and loved to be with her friends whenever she could. Her family meant a great deal to her and she was truly looking forward to welcoming her twin nephews. She was a great daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend who was always cheerful and helpful.

She had many plans to better her life and wanted to return to school. She was very proud to graduate with her classmates from Appleton East in 2011. She was currently waitressing at Applebees.

She will be forever missed by her mother: Bev Kelley-Miller (Jim Miller), father: Dennis Kelley, brothers: Simon (Andy and Namhee) Albright, Adam Combs, and sister: Michele Kelley (Travis Treadwell), stepsisters: Cassandra Miller (Vishal Rao), Jessica (Mike) Brittnacher, and stepbrother: Jacob Miller, nieces: Maya, Chezney, and Vayda Brittnacher, Heather Albright, Sitara Rao and nephews: Colton and Mason Treadwell, grandmothers: Marion Ploederl and Joyce Kelley, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Harry Ploederl and Fred Kelley.

A celebration of Megan's life will be held on Sunday, April 19 at 3:00 PM at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the FUNERAL HOME.

Megan, we will greatly miss you! Love you always, till we meet again.

I came across this article in the Daily Yahoo Stories on-line entitled Grieving Dad Pens Honest Obituary For Daughter Who Died Of Heroin Overdose and was reminded of your own obituary, Megan Rose. My son Jared, 35, is struggling with the same addiction, his Mother and I are hopeful for his rehabilitation; he's been in treatment (Suboxin) for over [2] years now. From what I've been told Megan, it is the fear of withdrawal that makes it difficult to be recover from heroin addiction. Megan, you are now in the Loving Arms of Your Heavenly Father; we are still here and continue struggling with my sons' heroin addiction. Know this Megan, you were not alone in your struggle and you were recently joined in Heaven by another Daughter of The LORD named Molly Alice Parks, 24, formerly of Manchester, NH. She, like you succumbed to the ravages of heroin addiction. Know this also Megan Rose, Your Father Loves you (as you now know) and your family you left behind with all of HIS Heart. As HE now comforts you, HE Will also comfort your loved one who remain. I will continue to pray for you Megan, Molly, and all those who have gone before, and also for those who remain in torment because of heroin addiction, to My FATHER for your comfort in HIS Loving Arms Forever; and that we who remain, find the answers to this struggle that claimed yours and so many of HIS Children's lives here. Though I never knew you in life here, I will meet you in Eternal Life, when I return to My FATHER'S Kingdom. Always Lenny

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Megan's death. I knew her best when she was a middle school and high school student. What a delightful young girl, with such a warm heart and beautiful smile. I know via Facebook that she has been having problems. Addiction is such a horrible disease. I feel your pain. May God bless you with a rich measure of His comfort.

I wish there were more people like you that actually were honest enough to admit their child had an addiction and to include it in their obituary. I believe that if more people would make this known instead of hiding it, more families would be aware of the growing heroin and related drug problems in our own neighborhood. Everyone thinks that this a big city problem, it is not, heroin today is readily available in Appleton and surrounding cities more than weed ,meth has taken a backseat to heroin. Sad, brought light to my older son about his younger brother and his addictions that he went through. As a parent you never believe that someone else can feel your pain, but I feel yours. One of my boys hung out with Megan in high school, the other knew her in her worst of times.

Bev, I am so sorry to hear of the tragic loss of your beautiful daughter. I never met Megan, but I can only imagine the anguish you are going through.

I have to honor the courage you took to help others going through drug and alcohol addiction issues when you wrote Megan's obituary. It can happen to anybody. It is a terrible demon to shake.

Megan is now resting Jesus' arms. May God's peace enter your heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Sincerely,

As I post this, tears flow from my eyes....................They say that God doesn't give you more then you can handle, what this really means is, he will carry you through this & slowly let you go as time goes on. My heart hurts for your aching heart. Another beautiful young lady with a beautiful name and a beautiful smile has become an angel. This is not fair, this is devastating! I want to give the entire family of this beautiful angel a warm, tight hug. Please accept my deepest sympathies. You see, we also have lost a beautiful angel to addiction, 4 years ago. It is senseless & heartbreaking. Whenever we become aware of another loss of a precious loved one who was taken to soon, we live our loss over again. I will tell you all that, she will live on in the wonderful memories that everyone has of her, in your own thoughts & in your hearts, every single day. She did not die in vain. God took her for a reason, so young. We all will find out when we arrive in the Heavens above. Warmly,Diane & Keith Smith

It is so sad that so many bright, beautiful young people are struggling with addiction. How compassionate of your family to share her story in her obituary, helping to remove the shame and stigma of addiction. No one is ever born wanting to be an addict; no child ever says in answer to the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" that "I want to be an addict, putting my life at risk everyday and the people who love me through the hell of knowing my struggles and fearing for my life." RIP, Megan. Thank you Megan's family for sharing her struggle and respecting her. I am so sorry for your loss.

When grief has left you low it causes tears to flow
When things have not turned out the way that you had planned
But God won't forget you His promises are true
And tears are a language God understands.

God sees the tears of a brokenhearted soul
He sees your tears and hears them when they fall
God weeps along with man and He takes him by the hand
Tears are a language that my God He understands.
