GEORGE SOFIS Obituary
Prominent Pittsburgh Securities Dealer, of Mt. Lebanon, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2011. He was the son of Lucy G. Sofis and the late George P. Sofis, owners of the former Sofis Corners Restaurant downtown. He was the beloved father of Heidi Sofis of Pittsburgh, PA; brother of Thomas of Milano, Italy, Constantine of Scottsdale, AZ and the late Epaminondas "Rick" Sofis of Mt. Lebanon. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends welcome at 2630 West Liberty Ave., Dormont, 412-531-4000 on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Trisagion Wednesday 6 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 123 Gilkeson Rd., Mt. Lebanon on Thursday 10-11 a.m. with Funeral service following at 11 a.m. Interment Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. George, despite your nickname "sour grapes" from much younger days you were always been a keen observer of people, places, and politics. I remember your habit of reading the Sunday newspaper, sitting in bed, when I came to see Rick. You were a good friend with a dry wit, and you are sorely missed by all.

George, dear friend, you are sadly missed by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing you. We debated many of the issues of the day over a cold glass at the Red Bull and places now long gone. Your memory lives on in our hearts and minds. Safe journey.
