I will always remember Chuck helping my Mom with her Christmas tree so when we came to visit for Christmas everything was ready for the kids. The kids loved this past Christmas, in no small part to Chuck. I love you Lisa. Thanks for being such a good friends to my Mom.

I remember Charles as a youg boy. He lived across the street from me in Wheeling. I would watch him help his Dad put up the outside Christmas lights. Ed Doepken was very tall and Charles being a young boy was tiny in comparison. It was a Norman Rockweel moment. All the children in the neighborhood played together and had fun swinging on the vines across the ravines like Tarzan. I live in Santa Barbara, CA and was visiting Wheeling a few years ago and had the pleasure to renew my friendship with Charles and his family. My sympathy goes out to you on your loss.

Dear Lisa,
As a former employee and now board member at Northside Common Ministries it was my honor to work and serve with Chuck in support of the homeless and very low income people served at the food pantry and shelter on the North Side. Chuck was a tireless and faithful advocate for those who were facing poverty and difficult times. Chuck's "can do" attitude, positive presence, and heartfelt assistance benefited local friends and neighbors in need. We thank you and Chuck for your great concern for those served by Northside Common Ministries. Our prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Lisa,
Chuck had a very 'dry' sense of humor that kept me in stiches every time we talked. He always had a bright smile on his face that seemed to be just for me yet I know others feel the same way about that smile being just for them too. I especially remember our trip to the Renassaince Festival, drinking wine, sharing meals together {like homemade enchiladas with hot dogs for Chuck}, the Festival of Bells CD we both bought, and the list could go on forever. Chuck's Christian faith was evident in how he lived his life. His compassion and kindness was endless. Although I'm not a life-long acquaintance of his, I feel that I've known him forever and will miss Chuck tremendously. I find hope in my firm belief that Chuck now resides in the peaceful presence and full grace of Christ Our Redeemer for all eternity. Please know that you can call me any time you need me.

Lisa,
Please accept my sincerest condolences on your loss. I felt privileged to call you and Chuck "Friends". Having lost my wife Zita after 39 years I understand how you feel. Please know that time, family and friends will get you through these troubling times. I will never forget what a "Class Act" Chuck was. I could see how much he loved and respected you every time I was with you both. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
With sincerest regards,
Bob Holzbach
