CLAUDE R. JR.
Distinguished physician, researcher, educator, author and lecturer, died Nov. 17, 2006, at his home in Sewickley. He was 80. His landmark 1963 article,"Reflected Ultrasound in the Assessment of Mitral Valve Disease", introduced echocardiography to the United States. It was published in Circulation, the official journal of the American Heart Association. Dr. Joyner was predeceased by his first wife, Nina Glenn Michael, who died in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Pollard; children Glenn Joyner Dias (Kieran) of Orangeburg ,SC, and Courtney Joyner of Los Angeles, CA; one grandchild, Joseph Carson Davis of Orangeburg; and three stepchildren, Rives Rea Yost (Walter) of Sewickley, Robinson Rea Scarborough (Richard) of Malibu, CA and K. Oliver Rea of Sewickley. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, Dec. 9, at The Presbyterian Church, Sewickley. Arrangements by COPELAND'S SEWICKLEY www.copelandfuneralhomes.com
