I was saddened to learn that Betty had passed away. She was a dear friend to my mother. I had no idea that Betty lead such a glamorous life but then I'm not surprised. May she rest in peace.
My prayers and sympathy,

Aunt Betty was a favorite Aunt. When I was around her things were never dull... Aunt Betty was full of life and enthusiasm. I am going to miss her dearly. I enjoyed my talks with her over the phone or in person. I always learned something new. Aunt Betty loved my little dog, BeBe. She was so excited to see her in my purse when I visited. I am going to miss her dearly. I am so glad she is at peace. I remembered her when I was a little girl how fashionable she was . I loved to be in her bedroom with her. It was so neat and pretty with so many beautiful interesting things. I know she is in heaven with Grandpap and Grandma.

In the early 1960s, my aunt stood out as a cosmopolitan woman who worked in downtown Pittsburgh.
When I was six years old, my mother dressed me in a fancy pink dress and hat, gifts from my Aunt Betty. Then we walked to the bus stop about a block away and waited. The bus arrived and my mother advised me to sit directly behind the driver and for him to drop me off at 34 Boulevard of the Allies. The bus wound its way through Ingram and the West End, before crossing the Fort Pitt Bridge to the stop in front of the brown rectangular building that was home to the Pittsburgh Press where Betty was waiting to greet me.
She took me inside for a tour of the busy newsroom and proudly introduced me as her niece to colleagues in the advertising and circulation offices where she worked. It was my first glimpse of a downtown workplace, one that left a lasting impression.
At her desk, she gathered her gloves and handbag, and then we headed out for dinner and a movie the first of many such outings over the years.
