Obituary Condolences

Born November 20, 1939, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2018. With her were her daughter, Tamara Elaine Golden (partner Douglas Alp) of Oceanside, CA, and brother, Dr. Drew Morrison Noden and his wife, Gertrude of Ithaca, NY. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Dr. George T. and Marion (Morrison) Noden; and her stepmother, Norma (Jack) Noden. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Gail devoted several years promoting social justice and civil rights in many parts of the country. Upon returning to Pittsburgh she completed a Master's in Social Work and focused her energies on supporting senior citizens, often serving as director of local city senior community centers. She served as a docent at the Pittsburgh Zoo for 45 years, working especially on educational programs targeting youth, and was active in youth and adult activities at Emory Methodist and then East Liberty Presbyterian Churches. An avid lover of all things artistic and cultural, and a native Pittsburgher, Gail was a keen supporter of many of the institutions that make this city great, from its sports teams to its symphony, art and history museums, the zoo, aviary, and Phipps Conservatory. Gail was loved and will be remembered by all for her thoughtfulness and generosity combined with her feisty spirit and wonderful sense of humor. A celebration of life is scheduled on what would have been her 79th birthday, November 20th, at East Liberty Presbyterian Church. Donations in Gail's memory can be made to the Pittsburgh Zoo or East Liberty Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC.
