Obituary Condolences


Age 90, of Whitehall, formerly of Mt. Washington, peacefully passed at home surrounded by family on September 9, 2018. Beloved husband of 60 years to Joan McCloskey; father of Denise (Charles) Fiedler, Wayne (Lisa) McCloskey, and Lisa (Bart) Flaherty; grandfather of Amanda Vagni, Kaitlin, and Krista Fiedler, Kristin, Matthew, Michael, and Mark McCloskey, and Angela Havrilla, Sean, Erin, and Bart Flaherty; great-grandfather of Landon and Lilah Havrilla and Evan Leland; brother of James, Ken, Jane, Bob, and the late Margaret, Eileen, and Fran; son of the late Minnie and Frank McCloskey. He enjoyed making stained glass, traveling and visiting Amish Country, taking walks in the park, watching sports, and spending time with family and his beloved dog, Daisy. He served as Military Police in the US Army, and spent his 30-year career working at Fisher Body. He served as financial secretary of United Auto Workers Local 544. He loved antique cars, was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed investing in and following the stock market. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 12, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 13, 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Pittsburgh. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
