MICHAEL L.
Of Butler, Pennsylvania, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the age of 75. He was the beloved son of the late Michael "Ike" and Marie Markiw Pawk. Michael is survived by his sister, Barbara Pupi; his children, Michele Pawk (John), Michael J. Pawk (Georgia), Laura Santora (Donald), Matthew L. Pawk (Marci), and his fiancee, Dora L. Bailey. Michael also had 11 grandchildren, Maxwell Pawk, Cassandra Pawk, Victoria Pawk, Elyssandra Santora, James Santora, Avangeline Santora, Donald "Tripp" Santora, Jack Dossett, Olivia Pawk, Gabrielle Pawk, and Isabella Pawk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra. He was a graduate of Butler High School, Grove City College, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry. He served honorably as a lieutenant in the United States Army in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He maintained a successful dental practice in Butler for over 30 years. He was a proud founder of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, which helped reduce the use of mercury in dentistry. After the passing of his father, "Ike," he owned and managed the Lyndora Hotel. He was a member of the Masons. He was born and raised in Lyndora, Pennsylvania. He was extremely proud of his Ukrainian heritage, and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren the art of Ukrainian egg painting (pysanka). He was a voracious reader and enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and listening to rhythm and blues music. He also sponsored many local bowling teams. Although proud of all of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments, he especially enjoyed attending plays and musicals in which his daughter, Michele, performed. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, Pennsylvania. The Memorial Service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice at 115 Technology Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.
