It's with a sad and heavy heart that I announce the sudden death of my beloved mother on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at her Kennedy Twp. residence. Daughter of the late B. William "Bill" McDermott. Patti is survived by her daughter Caroline (Randy) Keefe-McDermott, her mother and two brothers. Patti was a fourth generation funeral director which she owned and operated the McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., in McKees Rocks and Kennedy Twp. She was a member of St. Malachy Parish, PA Funeral Directors Association, Allegheny County Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. Locally, Patti was on the board of directors for the Sto-Ken-Rocks Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania. Family will welcome friends at the McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 334 Forest Grove Road, Kennedy Twp., Coraopolis, PA on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday 10am St. Malachy Church, Kennedy Twp. (EVERYONE MEET AT THE CHURCH). Concelebrants will be Fr. Michael Maranowski and Fr. Michael McDermott. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations to the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1101 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233 or Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horn Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, as Patti was an avid animal lover and animal rights advocate.

I was so sad to hear of the passing of your mother. We were friends from our days at PaineWebber. She was such a wonder loving person. Her warm infectious smile brought joy to everyone who knew her. I am thankful to have known her for even the short time. I know that God will comfort you in this difficult time. Absent from the body and present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8)

Caroline ~~
I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. Megan had told me of your loss yesterday and I am so very, very sad. Your Mom was certainly a beautiful woman inside and out. There are certain people that come into one's life that really hold a special space in one's heart. Megan and I consider your mother one of them. You and your family are in our prayers..

To Dorothy, David and the McDermott Family:

My Mother and Dad were great friends of Bill and Dorothy and Patty and I grew up in close ages while attending St. Francis de Sales. I always admired her beauty and class. When my parents both passed away, she and David took me under their wings to make both funerals so beautiful for Bob and Alice. I will always remember her smile. She is now under God's wings and her smile radiates the Heavens above us. Please accept my deepest and sincerest sympathy at this most difficult time. Cherish the memories.

I don;t know if you will remember me but your mother and I were very close when you were 6 years old. Somehow it didn't work out but I always wished that she and you had a good life. I will miss her deeply but still have some great memories of the times the three of us had together. Best wishes for you and the rest of your family.

Dear McDermott Family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Patti. I met Patti many years ago as we served together on the parish council at Ascension. Since that time, my family has been the recipient of Patti's kindness during the many family funerals at McDermotts. She was always there with a sympathetic heart and a dedication to taking care of details when we needed her. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.

To the entire McDermott Family:

My condolences on the loss of Patricia. I never met her, but I did meet her father, Bill, who was an old friend of my parents who were McKees Rocks natives--Richard (Rach) and Lois Fischer. Although my parents had lived in Virginia for the past 40 years, the McDermott family was so gracious about handling their obituaries for the local Pittsburgh paper. My prayers are with Patricia's entire family.

Patti was a beautiful person, inside and out. She was sweet, smiling and funny. I know that you were her greatest treasure. I will miss her dearly but I know she is dancing in heaven!

I am so very sorry to hear about Patti. I have many fond memories of her. As a young child she was always so cheerful and friendly and that didn't change over the years. When I would see her, she always had a smile on her face and a warm greeting. I want to express my sincere sympathy to Caroline and Dorothy, and also to her brothers. We have lost a very special young lady but we are all the better to have known her.
