1920 - 2017
Age 96, formerly of Glenshaw, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 12, 2017. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 25, 1920, he was a graduate of Carrick High School. Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in the battle of Okinawa. Both his career as a customs broker in Pittsburgh and his avocation as an organist and choir director in several churches in the greater Pittsburgh area lasted for 56 years. Bill and his beloved wife, June, shared 66 years of marriage prior to her death in 2013. Together they had relocated to Glendale, AZ in 2005 to be close to their daughter. Bill continued to play organ and piano for most of the 11 happy years he spent at Glencroft Senior Living Retirement Community. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Logan Twigger; and sister, Mabel Speicher. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Nancy Twigger of Phoenix, AZ; his dear sister, Jane Haney of State College, PA; and many loving nieces and nephews.
