Obituary Condolences

Of Point Breeze, died March 10, 2012, and had an extraordinary, 38 year life story. Born July 23, 1973, with severe cerebral palsey, his mother, Fay Moreno Corey, who survives him, was told to "take him home and love him". In 1976, Joshua was the first multiply handicapped student at Southwestern Pennsylvania School for Blind Children under the federal Right to Education Act, which mandated free and appropriate public education for all. With the help of many physical therapists, Joshua never had to have orthopedic surgery and was able to ambulate using a walker to receive his diploma in applied technical curriculum from the Pittsburgh Public Schools in 1994. Joshua lived at home in Point Breeze and participated regularly in community activities. Joshua's mother, Fay, would like to thank all of the medical personnel, care givers and friends who helped Joshua to complete his journey. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street (www.freyvogelfuneralhome.com) on Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Wednesday, Mass of Christian Burial (Notice of time and place later). Remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army's Project Bundle Up.
