To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I was saddened to here of Kelly and his Dad's passing. Kelly was a connection in Pittsburgh that I always kept alive when I was in town. He always made me feel special when he would sit down with my family and me at the restaurant. I came to know him as a true friend. I will sorely miss him. My condolences go out the Harrington Family

To the Harringtons:
I was so sad to hear about Kelly and your Dad...what an unimaginable loss.
Kelly and I were the best of friends from St Sebastian's through college. One of my outstanding memories involves both of these dear Harrington men. My first date was with Kelly, going to a semi formal dance. Your dad, was our "driver" and fully acted the part. As Kelly came to the door to get me, your dad, dressed as a chauffer, was standing at the car, holding the back door open for us. He made the night so special.
After I moved from Pgh, I only saw Kelly a few times and happily, the last time was last fall. We always had a great laugh reminiscing about our youthul shenanigans!!
I have so many memories of your family that I have shared with my own: the dog named Dammit, the year round Christmas tree, and the telephone booth inside the house, just to name a few. My son said he believes our family style is rooted in the Harrington style. For that, I thank you.
I pray that the strength and love of that Harrington family will provide some comfort for you now at this most trying time.

Kelly touched so many who walked through the doors of Tessaro's. His kind face and welcoming personality were a beacon of light in Pittsburgh. We turned all our "out of towners" on to the best burgers in Pittsburgh! We raised our two girls at the front window table and were greeted like family whenever we stopped in. Our hearts go out to the Harrington family for their terrible losses and to the entire Tessaro's "family".

Dear Ena, I was sorry to learn of the death of your dad and your brother Kelly. I was a big fan of Kelly because we shared a strong interest in Pittsburgh sports. I loved that photo behind the bar showing Garfield great Harry Greb in action. I loved telling people about Tessaro's and the great food. Keep the lights on at Tessaro's. It's a legacy to your family. Best wishes, Jim O'Brien, Pittsburgh sports author, Upper St. Clair, Pa.

Dear Ena and Harrington Family. My husband and I were sadden by learning about Kelly when we were at the restaurant a week ago. I can remember when we first moved here 28 years ago from Florida and stopped into your restaurant. We sat at the bar and Kelly offered me ribs and salad to try. I thought what a kind and generous person. Well the rest is history. We are now moving back to Florida and we will take with us fond memories of him . He always took care of us. And Ena we also enjoyed our talks with you about Italy. We will keep you in our prayers during this difficult time.

Kelly was someone who loved life and lived it to the fullest. I have only happy memories of being around him--his joy, sense of humor, level head, generous heart & great spirit....were on full display whether working or playing. And his story telling abilities are matched by none.
He was a true gem--Rest in Peace Kelly.
My heart goes out to the Harrington family and friends.

All of my 'big' moments have always been celebrated at Tessaro's...not just because of the great atmosphere, but because of Kelly. When I would travel home, I would look forward to nothing more than to stop by and see him! Kelly has created so many unforgettable family memories for my parents, my brother and myself. He will live forever in every picture we have and every story we tell!

You wouldn't have to talk to Kelly very long to know about his feelings for family, the restaurant and Villanova. Always ready to "take care of me" getting a seat on a busy night. And Dennis was so politely intelligent about the law. My thoughts are with the family.

Dear Harrington Family:
My Daughter told me tonight of Kelly's passing. We were devastated. My daughter and son enjoyed seeing him and speaking with him every time I was in town. Living in Arizona and being removed my visits were few. When I lived in Pittsburgh, I looked forward to Tessaro's and seeing Kelly's smiling face and the staffs. Kelly made them most memorable. Our sincere condolences to the entire family. We will remember Kelly in our hearts.
You are in our prayers

My deepest sympathies to the Harrington family.
Kelly was really a great representative of the best qualities of Pittsburgh. I only knew him as the host at Tessaro's, but the hospitality he showed to guests there went far beyond the norm, even to me when I first moved to Pittsburgh 19 years ago and made the first of many visits to the restaurant. I've since learned that his warm and welcoming personality was an example of a common trait among Pittsburghers, although he took it to an exceptional level. I imagine he was a wonderful ambassador of Pgh in all his travels. I will miss knowing he is there.

Our heartfelt sympathy to the Harrington family and the extended Tessaro's restaurant family. As frequent patrons of Tessaro's, we often observed Kelly and his Dad at the bar and were moved by their relationship. We are glad they took that final Olympic trip to China together. Dear Mrs. Harrington and the entire Harrington Family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear about Mr. Harrington yesterday and had no idea about Kelly until I got home and someone mentioned it to me - I thought they were mistaken. My heart is so heavy. I admired Mr. Harrington as a role model and for his kind heart. I loved Kelly like a brother - I first met him when I was 15 years old and my brother Jeff brought him home. They became good friends all through high school. I am so glad I recently ran into Kelly before he left for the Olympics. He was so polite and well mannered - it was obvious he had good parents and he loved his family so much. I still can't believe it. My prayers are with you. The world will not be the same without either of them. They both definitely made an impact on many lives.

Dear Harrington Family:
We are so sorry for your loss. While dining in Tessaro's many times, you could see the kindness and fairness in Kelly's manner and presence. We always enjoyed going there because you knew it was a fine meal and that he was proud of his establishment.
There aren't many of Kelly's kind around anymore. I am so sorry that you lost a father, husband, brother and son at the same time. My prayers are with you.

So many things I have learned from my years with you...but among them is a sense of pride that I carry with me still to this day...Kelly taught me it is not what you do in life, it is how you do it. And Dennis...well, what can I say? I will never forget the day shortly after I started work there Kelly told me to stand outside & wait for his Dad. I let some man park his motorcycle and walk right past me and into the restaurant as I diligently scanned Liberty Avenue for some sort of gentleman's car...of course you all probably know who I allowed to slip in the door unnoticed...I am just broken hearted for everyone.

To Tee, Ena and the Harrington family - Since I heard about your terrible losses I have felt very down. After reading an old story in the PG about Tessaros I couldn't help but recall how Kelly was so patient and kind to me while I was THE WORST waitress during my tenure there. And how your dad always had a smile for us when he arrived. They will be missed by so many, near and far. My prayers are with all of you.

Dear Ena and Harrington Family,
My heart is so sad today hearing the news about Kelly and his Dad. Kelly always had a smile and warm hug to give. Such a caring soul! You and Kelly were so kind to my Mom and Dad for many years. More recently you both (and the entire Tessaros crew) watched over my Dad and cared about him, as if he were family. We will miss Kelly's happy face greeting us at the front door of Tessaros and will always remember our favorite "tomato soup Mondays." I feel very blessed to have known Kelly. May the love and support of family and friends bring you comfort during this difficult time. With heartfelt sympathy,
