TOLFA EMILEO "LEE"
Emileo "Lee" Tolfa, age 85, of Beaver Falls, PA, died February 22, 2010. Born August 4th, 1924 in Aliquippa, Pa, he was a son of the late Angelo and Rosa Vallecorsa Tolfa. During WW II, Mr. Tolfa served in the Airforce and the 9th Armored division in Europe. He played in the 314th Airforce Bomber Group Band in Smyrna, TN. He received combat medals plus a combat infantry badge for battles in Europe. In 1946 Mr. Tolfa formed his first 18-piece orchestra. His most recent band was the Lee Tolfa Variety Quartet. He has played for M.P.I.C., West Aliquippa Band, McKees Rocks Concert, Monaca Cornet Band, Ernie Caputo Band, Beaver County Wind Ensemble, and Sewickley Symphony. After graduating from Duquesne University he taught in the Ellsworth School District, Hopewell Area School District, and Ambridge Area School District where he was the supervisor of music. He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Karen Tolfa. Surviving are his two sons, Angelo Tolfa, Aliquippa, PA; David Tolfa, Aliquippa, PA; three daughters, Mara Yoko, Newport News, VA; Nancy Tolfa; Wexford, PA; and Elizabeth Tolfa Latham, Erie, CO; one nephew, Edward Tolfa, Winter Springs, FL; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where prayers will be recited Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Philomena Catholic Church. Interment will be private. The family would like to give special thanks to the women of "Home Instead" for their loving care and comfort they gave to Lee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, if desired, to the San Rocco Cultural Committee, 4 1/2 Cedar Ave., Aliquippa, PA 15001. The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the funeral home on Friday at 9:15 a.m. to conduct military rites.
