My deepest sympathy to the Prestogeorge family. John was such a wonderful person. It was such a pleasure coming into the store and being greeted by John. He had a smile and kind word everytime I came for coffee. He will be deeply missed.

Dear Mrs. Prestogeorge and Family,
Please accept my sincerest sympathies for your loss. I was in the store the morning after Mr. Prestogeorge passed away, and we knew something was wrong even before learning the sad news. He was always such a nice man and it always made me happy when he was the one to measure -- perfectly every time! -- my coffee. It made it extra special. I have been savoring my morning cup of J.P. Hearty blend since then, and remembering him each morning. My thoughts are with you, his family, friends, and coworkers.

Dear Mrs Prestogeorge and Family;
I am so sorry for your loss of your husband and father. He was always so wonderful to see in the store. No matter how many customers were at the counter, I would always wait to chat with him. His wonderful disposition and kindness to all, really made your store a destination for my Saturday mornings. It is difficult to lose family members or anyone special in your life, but Mr Prestogeorge was larger than life. I truly sorry for your loss. Memory eternal,

I have been going to Prestogeorge's in the Strip weekly since I started working close by 3 years ago. I believe it was Mr. Prestogeorge's personality that set the happy and friendly mood in that store; I've always left the store in a much better mood than when I went in! Mr. Prestogeorge was such a nice man and will be missed. My condolences to his family & friends & to all of the store personnel.

Having known the Prestogeorge family our entire lives, from their home in Monroeville 40 years ago, to the present, and being best friends with Stan, Chris, and Ted, all that flood back to me are the great memories. Stan, Chris, and Ted are terrific and wonderful people. And as they say, the acorns don't fall far from the tree.
Mr. Prestogeorge was one of those rare people where if you came into the room in a sour mood, you left with a smile on your face. His personality, warmth, and the true way in which he cared about people is something I will never forget.

My favorite moment in the day is early in the morning when I make my first French press of coffee, freshly roasted beans from Prestogeorge, of course. No other coffee in the world can surpass that from John's fine establishment. I look forward to my twice-monthly stops into the shop to replenish, sometimes being waited on by Mr. Prestogeorge himself. What a wonderful man, he will be missed by us all.

I was only a customer, but it was plain to me that Mr. Prestogeorge was a great salesman, a great businessman, and most importantly, just a really good human being. I'm going to miss seeing him across the coffee counter Saturday mornings, and I know his family will miss him very much, too. My condolences go out to them and to everyone who had the fortune of meeting Mr. Prestogeorge.

My father-in-law discovered John in the Miracle mile by following the smell of roasting peanuts. In those early days he had a peanut roaster outside the store. We bought coffee beans from John as long as he was in the Mile and followed him to Greengate for as long as we could. He always remembered what coffee blend we wanted. I have often thought of him since those days.

Prestogeorge Family,
My husband and I send our sympathy for the loss of such a special person. We always came into the store and looked forward to be taken care of by Mr. Prestogeorge. Such a sweet pleasant man who introduced us to so many amazing coffees including J.P. Hearty. He remined me so much of my pap pap who was a wonderful caring man as well. Cherish the memories. God Bless

We are so sorry for your loss. As long time customers we always looked forward to John's smiling face and warm greeting. He made us feel like he knew us. The only thing better than the coffee was, talking to John. He always took time to explain how we could have our "J.P. Hearty" blended to suit us.....more Sumatra, or more Vienna. His blend is the best. Seeing his photo brought tears to our eyes. We can still hear him say, "It's our #1 best seller." J.P. will always be #1 with us. We will toast him with every cup we enjoy.

Every Thanksgiving it has been a tradition to stop in with out of town relatives and see Mr. Prestogeorge and get a delish cup of coffee and a bag of his Holiday Blend. He will be missed by all.

We are so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. Mr. Prestogeorge was one of the first people to make us feel welcome when I took my son on his first visit to Pittsburgh several years ago. His warmth and enthusiasm colored our entire journey. May he rest in peace.

To the Prestogeorge family,
My memories go back nearly 40 years to that house down the street, to the backyard parties (he never minded if you crashed but instead was happy to see you, even if you were only Stan’s friend’s little sister), and later, seeing him now and then at the store, it didn’t matter how many years it had been, or if he didn’t exactly remember which sister I was, he was at all times welcoming and friendly, and genuinely happy to talk. He was a kind and sweet man, and he will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.
