THOMAS "GLEN"
Age 62, of Pittsburgh, died on Sat., Feb. 16, 2013 in St. Margaret Hospital, Aspinwall. He was born on Dec. 4, 1950 in Philadelphia and was the son of the late Herman and Agnes Rosenberg Whitaker. He lived and worked for many years in New York City, Queens and Great Neck, Long Island, NY until he moved to Pittsburgh in 1999. He was educated at Columbia University and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He was a prolific fine artist who created the dinosaur, Cogitatio Aeterna for Dinomite Days, a fundraiser for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. His work, including paintings, constructions and sculptures, was exhibited at many fine art galleries in the New York area. Glen is survived by his longtime companion, Marcy L. Pitts of Forest Hills and formerly of McKeesport; and sisters, Dolores, Kathy, Geri; and many friends in Pittsburgh and across the country. During his sudden and terminal illness, he was surrounded by his dear friends, Steve and Gaye Kutlenios, Denise Edwards, Claire Burbea, Lee Wolfson and Sheena Mollett. There will be no service, rather an invitation-only celebration of Glen's life and art is being planned. For information, email mlpitts1@comcast.net.
