GILFILLAN KYLE TAYLOR
Of Sewickley, died suddenly at home, on Sunday, April 20, 2014. He was the beloved son of Howard and Margaret Shields Gilfillan; and devoted brother of Erin Gilfillan. He is survived by his uncles, Will, John, and Charles Shields; his aunt, Janet Young; great-aunt, Betty (BG) Shields; and many dear friends and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and Marion Gilfillan, W. Dickinson Shields, and Virginia Davidson Shields. Kyle was a gentle, kind-hearted man who loved to be with his family, his friends, and his Siamese cats. He was socially conscious and compassionate to all. Kyle was an honors graduate of Penn State's College of Communications. His life's passion was music, which included attending concerts and taping his favorite bands, extending from the Grateful Dead to Phish. He developed an expertise in the technical side of sound recording, which was burgeoning into a career. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. A Memorial Service is being planned for a future date. Announcement by COPELAND'S OF SEWICKLEY.

Dear Margie and Duffy,

I am so sorry to hear of this. It breaks my heart. I always thought if I ever had a son I would want him to be just like Kyle.

Kyle was my kind of person, incredibly kind, very much his own man, who knew what he wanted and what he didn't want. I admired his journey and his integrity.

I didn't know where Kyle would end up, but I knew it would always be on his own terms. I will always remember Kyle so fondly.
