GIANCOLA JOHN T.
On August 15, 2015. Beloved husband of Mafalda "Maffy" for 69 years; son of the late John and Mary Giancola; father of the late Ralph G. (Danielle), Linda Graham (Charles), Mary Urban (Michael), John Giancola, the late Annette Zunic and Anthony; grandfather of 14 grandchildren; and great- grandfather of 14; brother of the late Nancy Mascaro (Richard). He was a WWII veteran, served in Army Air Corps as a gunner stationed in Japan. He was a little league coach for the Bloomfield Athletic Association. He was on the 8th Ward Democratic Committee. He was the president of Bloomfield Citizen Council, created Bloomfield Halloween parade, president of AARP and a tax volunteer. He ushered and lectured for Immaculate Conception Church. He was a retired fire captain for the city of Pittsburgh. He received the Mary Cercone Award, Paul Scuillo Award, Mellon Bank Community Service Award, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. Friends received Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the WINTER FUNERAL HOME, PC, 4730 Friendship Ave. Funeral on Wednesday at St. Maria Goretti Friendship Campus at 10 a.m.
