David - My condolences. Paula was a hero to so many and she was a mentor to many students through Botany-In Action. I remember taking her to the Amazon. On that trip she met my student Mike Gilmore and that made all the difference as she became a mentor, funder, and cheerleader of his research in the Amazon which continues to this day. She also funded another of my students, Sushma Shrestha, from Nepal. I feel fortunate to have known her and to have shared a few brief moments with her. Staying with the two of you in your home was very special for me. I can only hope that time and memories will soften the pain of you sorrow. With heartfelt sympathy.

To the Sculley Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

I first met Paula when on the board of Phipps Conservancy and Botanical Gardens over 20 years ago. Her dedication to Botany in Action and many other environmental issues impacting our lives was remarkable. She was always a delight to be with and will be missed.
