Lifelong artist, classical pianist, and mother of Walt Gorr (Pittsfield, PA) and Jon Gorr (San Diego, CA), passed away on May 18, 2018, at the age of 85. She is survived by her sons and grandchildren, Jonathan Gorr of Houston, TX, Henrietta (Hattie) Gorr of Morehead City, NC, Walter Gorr of Delta, UT, as well as her surrogate granddaughter, Molly Edmunds of Aliquippa, PA. Born and raised with her twin sister, Louise Eisenbeis, in Mt. Lebanon, PA, Nancy graduated with a degree in psychology from Carnegie Mellon University, then married Dr. Walter Gorr D.D.S. and raised their boys in Moon Twp. There, she co-founded the West Hills Art League and was once featured on SNL with her "Steelers fire hydrants." In the 1980's, Nancy moved to Morehead City, NC, to fish and paint, and co-founded the Carolina Artist Gallery, where much of her art is still on display and for sale. For over 50 years, she regularly mailed "Nancy-grams" to entertain and uplift the spirits of many folks living in confined conditions, and also wrote and illustrated a collection of "letters" from her tabby cat to her mother's dog. Nancy's playful spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Nancy will be greatly missed by her family, communities of friends and artists, and the composers, fishes, plants, animals and flowers she celebrated with her art. Memorials will be held at the Carolina Artist Gallery in Morehead City and in San Diego. Contact family for details.

Nancy gave me a lifelong gift of oil painting after one six week course 1975. Im still painting and remember regularly going back to the lessons she shared with us. I cant imagine the sense of loss for her family. I only shared 6 weeks and it added so much to my last 48 years. May you find peace and God bless.

From the time I first moved to Morehead City about 26 years ago, Nancy was always wonderful to me. Both members of the Carolina Artist Gallery, we bought each other's art. She had one of my sock dolls she named "Brownie." Brownie watched over her medicines. Once I moved away, Brownie wrote letters to me telling me how things were going there in Morehead City. Then Nancy moved away as well. I miss Nancy. She was really special.

Nancy served on the board of the Arts Council of Carteret County, NC. She introduced us to gyoyaku, the Japanese art of fish printing, which we taught at festivals and the NC Seafood Festival over many years.i will always remember her cat stories and her sweet, generous spirit.

Nancy will be missed, but she will live on through her painting. I will think of her each time I pass one of them in my home.

Nancy is missed by all who knew her; for sure by me. I have examples of her art in my home which make me happy whenever I look at them and remind me of her. My deepest sympathy to all her family and other friends.
