Ruth,

It was extremely unexpected that I learned of Red's passing. Even though we have lost touch over the years, but I still wanted to express my most sincere condolences to you and your daughters. Red had touched me in a special way, just as he has with countless others. He had set the example of the kind of person that I strive to be. I am so sorry that you have to endure this kind of loss and pain. I will always keep Red, you and your daughters in my heart and prayers.

It's hard to replace a guy like Red. I had the privilege of growing up with the entire Miley family in the small community of Ingram. And throughout the years, I also was able to work closely with Red on various other projects, including a racing show we debuted last November. You will be missed my friend.

To the entire Miley family I would like to give my deapest sympathy and prayers to all of you. Although I have never met any of Red's family, I knew Red for many years. He and I went to Ingram Grade School together and I made contact with him again a year ago which was wonderful. He and I had a great conversation and were going to get together when I came back to Pittsburgh next month. I am so very sorry that didn't happen. He has been in my thoughts throughout the years and after talking with him recently I know he is in heaven and I look forward to seeing him there. I will miss you my friend but there is joy in knowing we will see each other again.

Dear Ruth, Mrs Miley, Ben, Ty Jerry, Matt and families,
I just learned of Red's passing today and wanted to extend my deepest sympathy. I lost my sister last month and know the pain and sorrow in your hearts. They tell us time heals all wounds and I trust that to be true. I will always remember Red for his foresight and his never wavering belief in the things he did. Once Red was committed to a business project or personal decision he never looked back. Failure was never an option in Red's eyes and he rarely got rattled by anything. I always respected him for that. I will also remember, with a smile, Red's red Ford van sitting in his turn 4 "headquarters" at the track back in the 90's.
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Sis,

I only wish I could have been with you at this very difficult time. I know how much you love all your children and how hard it must be to lose one of them.

I'm praying for your comfort and a peace that passes all understanding.

Also know that I am praying for you, your doctor and all who will be attending you on May 22. May our creator bless you and your family.

Dear Ruth,Daughters and the entire Miley Family,

We only met one time and that was at the spaghetti dinner at Wind Haven Christian Church ( we sat with you that night). However, I have know Red since he was a little kid. His Mom kept me updated on his progress since the time of his illiness.

I was so happy to see him at the dinner and to finally get to meet you and the girls. I have seen many pictures of them from Grandma.

I understand the long line at the funeral home only affirmed how well he was loved by no only family and friends, but anyone he came in contact with. I wish I could have been there but we had just arrived at our daughter's home in Tyrone, GA, some 700 miles away from Pittsburgh. But please know that the entire family has my heartfelt sympathy and you are all in my prayers.

I just wanted to pass along my condolences to the entire Miley family. I met Red last year when I was considering an internship with him and his racetracks. While I didn't know him well, he was a very genuine man to be around and I'm sure he will be deeply missed.

Dear Ruth, Jade, Lydia, Kate and the extended Miley Family,

My husband and I had the honor of meeting Red and Ruth at an AFTH Christmas party in 1998. At that time Red was standing in for an absentee Santa Claus. Little did we know, at that time, how much the role fit him. As we traveled to China the following December, who should be on our trip, but Red and Ruth. Ruth, I want you to know that Red had quite a long conversation with me about you. He told me that you were the love of his life and that building a family with you was the best thing he had ever done. He was so proud of you and the girls. I remember him trapsing along the streets of Nanchang and the people truly believing that he was Santa...and I do know that he left total strangers bags of gifts...not only the gift of his grace and laughter, but the ability to start their own businesses to save them from the poverty which they were destined to continue living in. Later, when both of our families were ready to adopt again, I got stranded in China. Paperwork needed notorized and it looked as though I may be stuck there in the White Swan for Christmas. Neil called Red, who left his own plans, to come to our rescue. He truly was our Santa Claus that year. Red will be remembered for the love he had for all of mankind, his generousity, his huge heart and for the phenomenal family man he was. I know that the memories he created were not only for those who were familiar with him, but for those he only met briefly. God bless all of you. You are in our hearts and our prayers.

Dear Ruth and family,
I just found out today about Red's death from Lois Webb. I am so sorry for your loss and will be praying for you all. May God's wonderful loving arms surround you at this time.
Lois and I visited in your home over our "Montour reunion" a few years back and I appreciated your hospitality. Red was always a positive person with encouraging things to say and he will be missed. The testimony to his life and how he treated others is shown in the memories that people have shared online.
May God comfort you with wonderful memories of your time with him.
Prayers, Kathy Saffer

I met Red years ago, as a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club, and what a wonderful and caring man he was. Now years later, I am working at Motordrome, and his smile would light up the track.
It has been an honor and pleasure to have known such a good man, what a great world we would have, if there were more Red Mileys.
Love ya Red.

I wish you the best in getting through this rough time in your life. He is surrounded by God's love and is and angel for everyone that knew and loved him.

Dear Ruth and family,
I knew a very long time ago that Red was one of those rare, special individuals that cross our paths for a short time but stay in our hearts forever. As a kid in high school, he had a way with people and could charm the toughest of them. His heart was made of gold and as big as his smile. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and wish I had had a chance to say Goodbye to such a dear old friend. May God wrap His arms around each of you and carry you though this dark valley of grief to a place where you can bask in Red's warm legacy of love for you.

Ruth, your beautiful girls and the entire Miley Family,
I met Red in 1988 when he bought a safe from me for his RV office. One joke and hearty laugh and I was hooked. Almost 20 years later I look back on the how much I had come to rely on Red's laugh and positive perspective on life. I've shared the journey of love you and he had made for your girls and I've watched them grow through pictures, unconditional love and all the stories Red had shared with me. I looked forward to the visits through Chicago and the phone calls that have inspired me when I needed it the most. I truly am a better person for having Red in my life. My heart beats heavy for your loss, but I smile a mile knowing he is at peace and knowing he is watching over all of us. My love and prayers are with you always. Thank you for sharing this wonderful man with me and with all who knew him. Penny Siedlecki Tucker

May 7, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on. I need you here badly; you're part of my plan. There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.

God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."

And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile, knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low, just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
