Mary Lott Obituary

Mary Louise Konold Lott, 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully at her home July 12, 2018, surrounded by her husband and children.

Mary was born Oct. 15, 1927, daughter of Ira Hobson Konold and Sylvia Rose Rosenberg Konold, in Chicago, Illinois. She spent her early years being raised by her grandparents in American Fork, Utah. After her grandmother's passing, she went to live with her father and her stepmother.

Later, she lived with her aunt Blanche, her cousins Al Konold and Roy Konold and their families. She met her future husband on a ditch bank in Mud Lake. When Elden ask her to marry him at the end of that vacation, she answered, "We are too young!" Many years later, she said, "Yes!" Elden and Mary were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on Dec. 10, 1952.

Mary and Elden called many places home: Mud Lake; Biloxi, Mississippi; Sioux Lookout; Ontario, Canada; Sandy, Utah; Ogden, Utah; Layton, Utah: Gallup, New Mexico; LaVerKin, Utah; Plain City, Utah; Provo, Utah; Orem, Utah; Pleasant Grove, Utah; and Sugar City. Rexburg became their final destination.

Mary gave birth to two children. As a wife, mother, she was an example of selfless devotion to family, friends and all those around her.

Mary served in numerous callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She talked fondly of her time serving as the Primary teacher of her son and his friends. She loved to go visiting teaching and ministering to the sisters in her ward. She was a wonderful seamstress, great cook, organized bookkeeper and the best cookie baker ever! She spent most of her adult life working on family history, and we are sure that her reunion with all of her relatives was a joyous one.

Mary is survived by her husband, Elden Glen Lott; her children David (Shellie) Lott, of West Jordan, Utah, and Laurie Lee, of Apple Valley, California; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by one child, Janet; one son-in-law, John; one grandchild, Cindy Louise; one great-grandchild, George Wallace Decklin; four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Hibbard LDS Chapel at 2029 North 3000 West in Rexburg, with Bishop Dwight Wray officiating. A viewing for friends and family will be held Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m., both times at Hibbard LDS Chapel. Burial will be in Ucon Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.

Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Elden, When you and Ben stopped to visit the other day, I hadn't heard about Mary's passing. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are for you and your family during this difficult time. I have always looked up the the Lott brothers and you brought a special light to Mud Lake and Rexburg. Although we didn't know Mary that well, we know that she was a great example of a daughter of Heavenly Father. Ben and Annette Speelmon
