She was born March 18, 1924, in Auburn, Wyoming, to Lorin and Eva Searight Leavitt. She was the fourth of seven children.

In 1944, she married Jesse Smith, and they had one son. They were later divorced.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was always concerned about their wellbeing.

She is survived by her children, John L. (Laura) Coy and Orrin (Judy) Coy, of Rexburg; Evalee (Scott) Liebert, of Egin; and Raetta (Troy Wise) Peterson, of Idaho Falls; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
