Bobby Rapp Obituary

Bobby Dean Rapp, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 10, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born March 30, 1927, at Rigby to Ezra Elmer Rapp and Emma Sophia Taylor Rapp. He grew up and attended schools in Rigby and Idaho Falls. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He lived and helped his dad operate the Rapp Upper Ferry at Heise. He was a member of the Navy Seabees as a seaman second class in World War II.

On April 23, 1947, he married Iretta Harding in the Idaho Falls IDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where he worked at Carl Seawright, Saving Center, Rogers Brothers and McClaskey Ford Tractor and Sales. He retired at age 82.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions throughout his life. He was a bishop, served in several bishoprics, high councilman and temple officiator. He was known as the "candyman." Children followed him after church for their taste of his special treats. He always had some candy in his pocket to share. Even adults would reach in his pocket to get a treat. He made fun candy trains, sleighs and trinkets that brought a smile and laughter to doctors, nurses, staff and people he would run into at the store. This brought him great joy.

His family includes his loving wife of 71 years, Iretta; his children: Meikle (Ginger) Rapp, of Bountiful, Utah; Connie (Ronald) Schuldt (both deceased); Teressa (Lynn) Jenkins, Hal (Lesa) Rapp, Sheri (Curtis) Johnson and Bruce Rapp, all of Idaho Falls; and a sister, Mary Catherine Schwieder. He had 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Connie June Schuldt; and siblings: John Richard Rapp, Elmer DelMar Rapp, Donna Muriel Freeman, Mark Ollan Rapp, Ezra Errol Rapp, Nello Von Hill, Hallie Jean Rapp and Sally Lorraine Rapp.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward, 651 Gladstone St. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
