Bonnie Newman Obituary
Bonita "Bonnie" Alice McAtee Newman, 95, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2018, with her family by her side. Bonnie was born on August 20, 1922, in Mahaska, Kansas to John (Jack) Andrew McAtee and Clara Bessie Kramel McAtee.

She followed her parents to Idaho Falls in 1940 after she graduated from high school. Her family had come west a year earlier to work in the potato farms.

In January 1950, she married Robert (Bob) Glen Newman. Together they worked at several locations and later purchased the Russet Bar and Cafe in Idaho Falls with partners and great friends Ruth and Bing Pierce.

They semi retired in the early 1970's when Bob suffered a stroke. They spent many good days on the fishing banks and time with their grandkids. Bob passed in January 1981.

They had two children Jacki and Charles. Charles was born in 1951, but only lived a few hours.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, brother Von McAtee, sister-in-law Ann McAtee, nephews, Roger and Richard McAtee, and a granddaugther, Julie Naisbitt.

She is survived by her daughter Jacki (Boyd) Bowles, of Driggs; Two grandchildren, Travis (Sara) Naisbitt and Tracie (Anthony) Kay; Nine great grandchildren, Garrett (Jessica) Naisbitt, Lauren (Zach) Prettyman, Ashton Naisbitt, Kamden, Kennady and Korver Kay, Rachel, Riley and Spencer Langston, all from Utah; nephew Gary (Vicki Standley) McAtee and their family in Washington; sister-in-law, Rosa Newman of New York; niece, Karen Newman (Scott) Smith ; and nephew, Frank Corey and their families in Idaho.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2355 Rollandet Street in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls. Condolences maybe sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.

Our family expresses much gratitude for the loving care provided by the staff at Grandview Assisted Living Center in Driggs, especially in the final days. Also the love and special care from OneSource Hospice.
