Carmen Thomas Obituary

Carmen Cecilia Jacobson Thomas, 82, passed away of natural causes after enduring many years of pain from MS and a number of health issues on June 13, 2018.

She was born Sept. 24, 1935, in Idaho Falls to Oran and Emma Jacobson of Swan Valley, Idaho. She attended Rainey Dell Grade School and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1954.

While working for Mountain Bell Telephone Co., she was introduced to her sweetheart of 64 years, Kenneth Leo Thomas, on Valentine's Day. On Nov. 10, 1955, they were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home together in Iona where they raised seven children: Trudy, Todd, Terrell, Trina, Tracy, Vernon and Doreen.

She was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed being a Primary teacher for many years. It was very important to her to live life by the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ and taught her children by example. She enjoyed doing genealogy and was very talented at knitting, crocheting, winning many awards for her crocheted dolls.

We take great comfort in knowing of the joyous reunion with family members preceding her in death: her parents, all her brothers and sisters including her twin sister, Carren; son Todd; grandson Cody; and great-granddaughter Jessica. She leaves her husband, six children, 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the many caregivers who attended to Carmen's needs over the past 10-15 years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Iona LDS Stake Center, 7555 North 55th East, on the Ririe Highway, with Bishop Casey Faulkner officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Iona Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
