Carol Parsons Obituary

Carol Sauppe Parsons was a beloved wife, daughter, sister aunt and friend. Carol left this world on January 2, 2021 at her home in Davenport Florida. She was born May 2, 1957 in Reading PA. Carol grew up in Boyertown, PA, where she attended Boyertown High School, graduating in 1975. After graduating from Boyertown High School, Carol pursued a bachelor’s degree at Temple University. Carol was Temple’s first female athletic scholarship recipient. Carol led the Owls to their first national field hockey tournament in 1978. She immediately became an impact player for Temple, leading the field hockey team in scoring for three straight seasons. In 1974 the entire Temple team scored only 11 goals. In 1975, her freshman season, she had 27 goals to set a university record. She had 12 goals against Beaver College for another Temple mark. She had numerous outstanding games during her career and had the hat trick in several important victories over teams like Pennsylvania, LaSalle, St. Joseph’s, and Eastern. She was also Boyertown High School’s first female athletic scholarship winner and became the institution’s field hockey MVP. Carol was inducted to Temple’s Hall of Fame in 1999. Carol was a Physical Education teacher in Boyertown School District, retiring in 2012. Carol was preceded in death by her father, Luther Sauppe. She is survived by her husband Tom Parsons, mother, Dorothy Sauppe, brothers, Kenneth Sauppe, and Lewis Sauppe, husband of Tonya, sister, Susan Andybur, wife of John Andybur. Nieces, Stacy Gerhart, Collette Devine, and Stephanie Au, and nephew Corbett Sauppe. Carol loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved the beach and spending time on Florida’s gulf coast. She had a kind heart and a warm smile. She was always the life of the party enjoying dancing and even singing. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and her passing has left a hole in our hearts.

In the short time we have known Carol over the past 3-4 years she became a great friend and neighbour. She was great fun to be with full of wit and laughter with a caring attitude.We shall miss you more than words can say and our hearts go out to Tom her devoted husband , her Mom whom she loved and cared for dearly and also her extended family.
Karaoke won’t be the same without you Carol, sleep well amongst the stars looking down on us.
