Robert A. Fischer

Albany - Robert (Bob) Fischer passed away in Albany Medical Center on Sept. 28, 2012 after a long fight with Lou Gehrig disease (ALS). He was born Feb. 16, 1958 at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He grew up in Pleasant Valley, NY attending Arlington Schools until graduation. He worked many years at James Burn International in Poughkeepsie. He enjoyed history and collected many period knives, each with its own story. As an avid Rock Hound, he was always searching for the perfect polished stone, geode, crystal, or great chunk of fossilized creatures. He took delight talking about his treasures. His fellow workers at C.H. Robinson, Albany, often fell victim to his zeal. He is survived by his parents George and Laura Fischer of Poughkeepsie; brother James and his wife Donna Fischer of Crawfordville, FL; brother Scott and his wife Kim Fischer and their children Daniel and Shayna of Pleasant Valley, NY; daughter Jennifer Miller of Lakeville, CT and his best buddy, adopted brother, Steve Testa and his family of Middletown, CT. Arrangements for cremation to be made by Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A memorial to Bob's life will be held at a later date as he requested. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Our days will be a little darker without him. If you would like to leave an online condolence or light a memorial candle, please visit
