WAPPINGERS FALLS - Alice May Horton, 83, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1958 and formerly of Staatsburg, died on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Alice was also affectionately known as Sissy, Mom, Nana, Gramma and Gramma Bean to those who loved her.

Born in the Bronx on October 18, 1929, she was the daughter of William and May Brodrick Winters. Alice had been employed in the housekeeping department at the Central Dutchess Nursing Home in Wappingers Falls.

On September 13, 1955 in Rhinebeck, Alice married Walter J. Horton who survives at home. She is also survived by her son, Thomas Horton of Plantation, FL; her daughter, JoAnn Barber and husband Robert K. Barber Jr. of Beacon; her brother, Joseph Tighe and wife Patty of LaGrange; her grandchildren, Rob and Stephanie Barber, Erin and Faul Su, Thomas Horton and Doreen Horton; and 8 great-grandchildren.

The Horton/Barber families would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses in the CCU and 4th Floor respiratory care for their compassion and dedication.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10am at the funeral home with Rev. Peggy Ann Sauerhoff officiating. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
