I knew Don, W2PTF, since the mid 1980s as a member of the Poughkeepsie Amateur Radio Club that I was President of. Don and I made visits to some local elementary schools near us and did demos of Morse Code to the kids which he really enjoyed. Don also worked with our club in helping out on 'Pumpkin Patrol' which we hams helped out patrolling interstate bridges for the New York State Police on Halloween and Halloween eve. Don knew my two daughters and always asked me how they were every time we saw each other. I had visited him often on Little Road when doing antenna projects. He was a very nice gentlemen and we hams in Dutchess County will miss him. I last saw Don at a radio field day in 2011 I believe. Sorry to hear this news - my condolences to his family.
