Howard Wildrick Obituary
Howard Wildrick

Delray Beach, FL - Howard Wildrick, known to his friends as "Howie", passed away on August 8, 2018 at the age of 84. He was predeceased by his sister Carol Kingsley, and his brother Gordon Wildrick.

Howie was a native of Highland, NY who retired with his wife Doris Wildrick to Delray Beach, Florida in the early 1990's. In both communities he was very active in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and he was always very proud of his work with the Elks club.

Howie was born in Highland, NY on January 1, 1934. He attended the Highland School system where he lettered in Basketball in High School and where he made many of his lifelong friends.

On November 2, 1954 his daughter, Debra was born to Howie and his first wife and she quickly became his pride and joy.

In 1955 Howie joined the military as a US Marine. He served in the Marines from September of 1955 through June of 1962 which included a tour in Korea. He was always proud to be a Marine.

In 1980, Howie married his second wife, Doris Frechette and together they blended two families and including his daughter and her eight children.

Together, Doris and Howie co-owned The Would Bar and Grill until 1992 and they built a business that was welcoming and warm. It became common for people to say, "let's go up to The Would to see Doris and Howie". Howie is known for his endearing nicknames of family, friends and patrons alike, and through those nicknames he always found a way to put a smile on everyone's face. What Howie did best was build community wherever he was through his ideas fun contests, dart leagues and bocci leagues and yearly parties celebrating life. It is fitting that he was born on New Year's Day.

Howie is survived by his wife of 38 years, Doris, his daughter Debra, his stepchildren Shari (Jeff), James (Dee), Cynthia, Gary, Mark (Kathy), Claire, Linda (Victor), and Timothy, 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and his sister, Faye Simpson.
