Newburgh - Juanita Pearson-Richardson - affectionately known as "First Lady" was born October 29, 1947 in Roseboro, NC to the late Henry and Corenia Owens departed this life on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Newburgh, NY. Juanita attended and graduated from Charles E. Perry High School, Roseboro, NC. She furthered her studies at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC and Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY.

Juanita was a faithful, active and dedicated member of the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ under the pastorship of Elder Dr. Thermond E. Herring where she was a Bible class student of the Elder Dr. Thermond E. Herring Learning Institute and NEDA Learning Center; a member of the Sunday School, President of the Willing Workers, Chairperson of the Decorating Committee, a member of the Pastor's Anniversary and Church Anniversary committee's and a member of the Sr. Ushers.

Juanita's talents and skills introduced her to many career opportunities; Montrose Veterans Hospital, Irving Trust Bank, Manhattan, NY (Money Transfer Department - Data Entry); NYS Insurance Rating Bureau (Secretary to Purchasing Order Manager); Bank of New York (Head Teller - Assistant Bank Manager); Sears (Manager Receiving Department, Assistant Store Manager (Lawn and Garden Department); Lead in Store Support; MCA (Merchant and Assistant) Soft Lines; Customer Service / Sales / Trainer.

Juanita rendered her community services as a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and volunteer for the Northeast Gateway to Freedom Religious Organization.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, a son Bryon Owens; sisters, Mabel Ingram, Catherine Melvin and Laura Owens-Smith; brothers, Joseph, Henry, James, Kirby, Carl Wade and Hermon Owens.

Juanita leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories her husband at home Elder William Richardson, one son Dennis Pearson (Michelle); one daughter Delphine Powell; six grandchildren, Keytwan Briggs, Anthony Thompson, Delquan Powell, Jazmyn Warren, Jordyn Pearson and Janiya Pearson; one great grandchild, DeAndre Pearson; four sisters, Edwina Melvin, Lola McDoe, Margaret Johnson (Roy) and Emma Butler; two brothers, Samuel Owens and Paul Owens; one godson, Demetrius Caldwell a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4

Mrs. Richardson will repose 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 1524 Route 300, Newburgh, NY. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. at the church. Elder Dr. Thermond E. Herring, Officiating. Interment Saturday, June 16, 2015 @ 9:00 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middlehope, NY.
