Lawrence Schiffer
EAST FISHKILL - Lawrence Albert Schiffer, 92, an area resident for 40 years and formerly of Hurley and Queens, died on December 9, 2018 at the Wingate at Dutchess.
Born in Newark, NJ on June 6, 1926, he was the son of Benjamin Harrison and Alice (Johnson) Schiffer. Lawrence proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War II. He went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from New York University and was then employed as a Project Manager at for IBM for more than 30 years. He was a fine woodworker, and an avid fan of the New England Patriots.
On October 31, 1953 in New York City, Lawrence married Frances Toth who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons and their wives, Peter and Elizabeth Schiffer, and Michael and Jacque Schiffer; his daughters, Betty Schiffer and Nancy Rosaler; and his grandchildren, Matthew and Mark Schiffer, Benjamin and Madeline Rosaler; and son-in-law Noah Rosaler. In addition, the family would like to thank the professional staff at Wingate at Dutchess for the loving care of both our mother and father.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 11am-1pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
