Poughkeepsie, New York - Lucille Lucy (Uciferi) Gower, a fifty year resident of the Hudson Valley, died at the age of 86 in her home in Pleasant Valley on August 07, 2018 from acute myeloid leukemia. Lucille was born on February 22, 1932 in Scranton, PA to Peter and Albina (Zatawesky) Uciferi. She was raised in her beloved town of Mount Pocono, PA and maintained her parent's home there until her death. Lucille graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1949 and attended Syracuse University from 1949 to 1950. She then attended Cedar Crest College from 1950 to 1951, completing her education in 1968 at East Stroudsburg Teachers College. Lucille taught English at Poughkeepsie High School from 1969 to 1994. A lifelong learner, she enjoyed books, music, shopping, and gardening. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, brother (Ralph), and son-in-law (Robert). She is survived by three children Raven Foresman, Sharon (Jay) Miller, Robert (Laurie) Gower; grandchildren Robert, Jason, Erica, Kelly, Kyle, August, Natalie and Alaina; and seven great-grandchildren Carleigh, Noah, James, Ella, Julia, Violette, and Peter. Funeral Services will be held 11am Tuesday August 14, 2018 at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Community Mausoleum with Entombment to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Lucille's name to Hudson Valley Hospice 374 Violet Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12601. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P.
