LANCASTER, VA - Mary Twyman Boone went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 18, 2013 with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Ashley and Martha Harris Twyman on August 4, 1919 and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York.

She was married for 54 years to the late Oscar Boone Jr. who preceded her in death on May 31, 1995. She was preceded in death also by her son, Oscar Boone III on September 7, 1993. Four sisters, Ethel Postell, Anna Tissiera, Claribell Woody and Isabell Eddy also preceded her.

She was employed at International Business Machines in Poughkeepsie, New York, in the purchasing department, retiring in 1978 after 25 years of employment.

She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie. She was an active member of the Senior Choir and Gospel Chorus. After her move to Virginia, she became a member of the First Baptist Church in Heathsville. While in Poughkeepsie, she was an avid golfer and active member of the IBM Golf League and McCann Golf Club. She was also an active bowler with the Hi-Lo Mixed

Bowling League at the Hoe Bowl Bowling Lanes. She was a lifelong gardener and treasured her rose gardens.

She leaves to cherish her memory son, Edwin (Kathryn) and daughter, Lorraine Parker (Milton) with whom she resided; daughters-in-law Rosalie Boone and Linda Boone; grandchildren, Cortland and Prescott Saunders, Desiree and Melinda Boone, Joshua Boone, Matthew Boone; great-grandchildren, Avainte and Courtney Saunders, Justin and Prescott Hancock, DuWayne Boone, and great-great granddaughter Aniyah Zafar; special caregivers, Queen Crockett, Kaylene Rich and Elsie Green.

A funeral service is being held on Tuesday, January 22, 2012 at 11 a. m. at the Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home in Lancaster, Virginia and interment is being held at the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Heathsville, Virginia.
