Mary E. Roberts

Highland, NY - Mary E. Roberts, a life-long resident of Highland, NY, passed away at the age of 94 in her home on Sunday, March 17, 2013, surrounded by loving family members. She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on February 23, 1919, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Messina. She married the love of her life, Anthony (Andy) F. Roberts, a New York City police officer who passed away on March 22, 1967. Together they raised three children, Albert Roberts of Wappingers Falls, NY, Joan Roberts, and Diane Quintiliani of Highland, NY. She was especially proud of her thirteen grandchildren, Anthony and Penny Roberts of Monroe, NY, Wendy and Robert Pruss of Poughkeepsie, NY, Craig and Melanie Roberts of Wappingers Falls, NY, Jill and Odilio Segura, Alicia Post, Ashley Orlando of Highland, NY, Lara and Will Oliviera of Kingston, NY, and William Quintiliani of Wappingers Falls, NY. She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved.

Mary was a special and caring aunt to her nephew Philip Messina, Jr. of Seffner, FL. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Philip Messina, Sr.

Mary was a graduate of Highland High School and a life-time employee of The First National Bank of Highland/M and T Bank where she retired as an Asst. Vice President in 1984. She was a member of St. Augustine's Parish in Highland, a member of Catholic Daughters of America, and past member of Highland Senior Citizens.

As the matriarch of her family, Mary will be remembered as a devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She dedicated her life to caring for so many, and the values and traditions she instilled in her family will live forever in their hearts. She truly will be missed!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice or St. Augustine's Church in Highland, NY. The family extends a special thank you to Hospice for all their support at a difficult time.

Calling hours will take place at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main Street, Highland, NY 12528 on Wednesday, March 20th from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, March 21st, 10:00 am at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Highland, NY followed by burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
