Danvers - Mary Sheila (Wallin) Durland of Danvers, Massachusetts, formerly of Poughkeepsie, passed away at the age of 87 after a short illness on July 22, 2018. Sheila was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Bill Durland. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy and her husband, Art Dioli of Ipswich, Massachusetts and her son, Sandy Durland and his wife, Kathy of Andover, Massachusetts. She is survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Jonathan Dioli and his wife, Katie and their son, Desmond of Salem, Massachusetts; Catherine Dioli of Ipswich, Massachusetts; Abby Durland of Charlestown, Massachusetts; and Carter Durland of Andover, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her brother, John Wallin and his wife, Karin of Piffard, New York and her sister, Jean Seager and her husband, Marsh of Canandaigua, New York. Sheila also leaves many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from college, Sheila worked for IBM where she met her beloved Bill. She was a loving mother, homemaker and, for many years, an Occupational Therapy Assistant at the Dutchess County Mental Health Partial Hospitalization Program. Sheila was an active member of the Garden Club and the Junior League, and volunteered for many Poughkeepsie organizations, including being a key coordinator for many years at the Nearly New Shop. She was a remarkable cook and hostess and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She was known for her artistic creativity spanning many mediums. Sheila and Bill loved to travel and went to many countries in Europe and South America. After moving to Massachusetts to be closer to her children and grandchildren, Sheila took up painting and left behind a large portfolio of treasured artwork for her family.

Sheila will be greatly missed by family and many treasured friends in both New York and Massachusetts. A service celebrating Sheila's life will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dutch Reformed Church, 70 Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie.
