Robert E. Nash Obituary
Robert E. Nash

Poughkeepsie - Robert (Bob) Nash, 93 of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away in his home on September 1, 2018. The second son of Viola and William Nash, Bob was born on September 2, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. After serving in the Army, he married Margaret Roessner on January 20, 1951. On November 9, 1951, Marge gave birth to their daughter Karen. In 1956 the family moved to Massapequa, NY, where they resided until Bob's retirement in 1985. Bob was the owner of Paint N' Place in Massapequa Park. The couple moved to Indian Lakes Estates where Bob built custom made golf clubs. Retirement allowed time for his many hobbies including building and flying model airplanes, golf, horseback riding and oil painting. Upon his wife's passing in 2006, Bob rekindled his friendship with Pat Mazure. He relocated to Poughkeepsie where the couple exchanged vows and enjoyed many happy years together, until her passing in 2014. Bob and his brother Bill shared a great love of sports. Their prowess on the ball field earned them many accolades in the Brooklyn newspapers. They played ball for over 30 years. The brothers were inseparatable, enjoying bowling, golfing and shooting pool together. Bob loved his family and cherished his friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was also compassionate, kind and generous. He is survived by his daughter Karen Sheehan (husband Dan Sheehan), stepson Alex (Sandy) Mazure and stepdaughter Mary Lyons (husband Bruce Lyons). A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
